Welcome to the Conservation Circus
Planet Zoo 2 throws in a neat little mini-game inside the game: conservation projects. Think of them as tiny missions your zoo can sign up for to help wildlife, earn rewards, and occasionally make your staff tell you they need a vacation. They’re a fun way to flip excess cash, free animals, or Conservation Credits into something that actually matters — or at least looks good on your franchise report card.
Where to Find These Projects
Open the franchise hub (the globe icon in the corner or press Tab), then switch to the leaf tab labeled Conservation Projects under your accreditation info. That’s the control center where all the current and future projects hang out, waiting for you to either heroically fund them or accidentally spend all your money on flashy gift shops instead.
Timed Projects vs. Regular Ones
At the top of the list you’ll sometimes spot projects with a little blue clock — those are timed gigs and vanish if you blink. Below those live the standard projects you can tackle whenever you want. Timed ones often offer juicy rewards, so keep an eye on the timer if you’re the ‘I’ll do it later’ type.
What Projects Usually Ask For
Each project shows the things it needs in a tidy resource bar. Typical requests include money, specific staff types (like vets or researchers), Conservation Credits, or even having certain animals in your zoo. Sometimes it’s a combo — cash + people + one rare critter — so make sure you match the checklist before committing.
How to Start a Project
Found something you like and have the goods to pay for it? Click the allocate resources button on the project, confirm the pop-up, and you’re off. Note: this action is final. Staff you send out will be absent from the zoo for a time while they’re off saving the planet (or attending mysterious conferences). They return when the mission wraps up.
Rewards — What You’ll Get
When a project finishes, the game automatically drops the reward into your account: cash, Conservation Credits, animals, or other perks. It’s a low-effort way to bolster your zoo if you’ve got surplus resources and want a win without building another exhibit.
Handy Tips and Strategy
Don’t throw everything at the first shiny timed project you see. Prioritize projects that match your current goals: extra animals if you need exhibits, Conservation Credits if you’re hunting rare species, or cash if your bank balance is crying. Keep a small pool of staff unassigned so you don’t cripple operations when a good project pops up, and check the hub regularly — timed projects sneak in and out.
Parting Advice
Conservation projects are a playful little loop that rewards smart planning. Use them to plug gaps in your zoo, snag freebies, and spice up your franchise progress. And remember: funding wildlife is noble, but so is saving money for that ridiculous penguin statue you totally need.
