Pangzhen is a big, twisty neighborhood in Phantom Blade Zero — full of bells, alleys, and things that will make you say “huh?” eventually. While exploring, you’ll stumble on a locked door at the Huang Manor Crossroads and think: of course it’s locked. The key is in Pangzhen too, but you can’t grab it immediately — you need to push the story forward first.
How to get the Huang Manor key (no dumpster diving required)
From the locked manor door, head west along the main story route until you reach Myst’s Tavern. Expect a few cutscenes featuring Myst and the Crane Bell — bring tissues if you get dramatic during NPC drama. After the scene, go inside the tavern and look for the chatty fellow sitting on a chair: Shopkeeper Niu. Talk to him, listen to the spooky tale about the maids turning into wooden Puppets, and let Soul volunteer to poke around. Once you complete those beats, Niu (or the story) will hand you the Huang Manor Key.
With that shiny little key, fast-travel or walk back to the Huang Manor Crossroads Bell and unlock the door. Congratulations: you’re officially allowed to snoop inside a haunted manor. Try not to touch anything that looks alive and wooden.
Huang Manor loot run — where to find the Medicine Pot fragments
Step inside the manor and immediately pick up the Tainted Crystal Shard you find nearby. Go through the open door on the left — you’ll meet a Puppet in the first room. Beat it (no mercy for wooden minions), then move into the next room to grab the Medicine Pot Fragment: Chain. Easy peasy, slightly creepy.
Press on to the following chamber and veer right first to collect the Medicine Pot Fragment: Handle. Once that’s secured, turn around and head up the stairs. Expect more Puppet fights on the landing — dispatch them and search the room. You should find another Tainted Crystal Shard, a Refined Indigo Shard, and the Medicine Pot Fragment: Body while you’re looting everything that isn’t nailed down.
Continue onward and check the left side of the next room. There are two Traversal Talismans, a letter, and a Memory Flower tucked away. Interacting with the Memory Flower triggers the A Brother Once More quest, so if you like plot hooks, you’re in luck. Before leaving the manor, make sure to turn back and pick up the Medicine Pot Fragment: Lid — that’s the final piece needed to assemble the Manor Medicine Pot accessory.
After the manor — return to Shopkeeper Niu
Once you’ve explored the manor and collected all the goodies, head back to Myst’s Tavern and find Shopkeeper Niu again. Chat with him and he’ll give you more information about Jin, mark a new spot on your map, and let the A Brother Once More quest continue. In short: talk to Niu, get the intel, keep the story moving.
Quick tips and survival advice
Bring healing items and anti-status consumables — those Puppets can wear you down if you get cocky. Keep an eye out for crystal shards and traversal items while looting; many rooms hide extra bits that help later. And remember: the manor rewards patience (and thorough snooping), so don’t rush past cupboards and corners — that Lid fragment won’t find itself.
