Quick Intro (aka “Don’t Panic, Just Beam”)
You’re here to smash some creepy black crystals, tinker with light gadgets, and take a casual stroll into the Shadow Realm. The Into the Tower’s Shadow quest sends you to the Hallowed Plain where you’ll chat with an NPC and then solve a Luminous Beam puzzle to destroy a Blightkristall. If that sounds like a lot, don’t worry — it’s mostly pointing lasers and pressing stuff.
Where to Start
Head to the Hallowed Plain and find Charodeeva standing by a tree trunk northeast of the western teleport waypoint. Talk to her to kick off the quest. Once the cutscene ends, move forward on the platform and pick up the Refraction Mechanism Prime Ice Construct blueprint — useful things, those blueprints.
Destroying the Blightkristall: The Light Show
The main objective is to break the Blightkristall blocking the way. You’ll need to build and place Refraction Mechanisms and use a Luminous Lamp Crystal on the Light-Focusing Pedestal to create a Luminous Beam. The general flow: place a mechanism, put the Lamp Crystal on the pedestal, aim the beam at the Prime Ice Construct you set up, and bounce the beam through gaps to hit crystals hiding behind cracks. Think of it as a mildly stressful game of magical laser pool.
Step-by-Step Beam Routing (So You Don’t Die Trying)
1) Build a Refraction Mechanism outside the cave when prompted. Then return to the Light-Focusing Pedestal and place the Luminous Lamp Crystal to activate the beam.
2) Aim that beam at the Prime Ice Construct you assembled so it can redirect the light. Turn the construct toward the refraction mechanism tucked behind a cracked wall, so the beam fries the visible Blightkristall.
3) After the crack opens, aim the beam through the gap and place another Refraction Mechanism near that opening to reach the next black crystal. Keep chaining mechanisms so the beam snakes its way to the distant crystal blocking the doorway to the Shadow Realm.
4) Continue moving to where the beam ends and place a mechanism there. Rotate and fine-tune angles until the beam destroys both the crystal in the window and the one further down the corridor. Eventually the final Blightkristall at the Shadow Realm entrance will shatter.
Into the Shadow Realm (Treasure, Traps, and a Lift That Hates You)
Once the path is clear, step into the Shadow Realm. First things first: grab the Firearm Blueprint and refill your ammo at the boxes — you’ll want to be loaded. Move forward, and check behind the lift for an Exquisite Chest before riding it. Expect to fight as you ride the lift; kill enemies, then exit when the path is blocked and loot another Exquisite Chest nearby.
Take the wooden stairs and use the grapple point to reach yet another Exquisite Chest. Get back to the wooden platform and follow the ramp upwards. Hop on the lift again to reach the upper platform where a Shadow-Trained Hailstorm Cannoneer awaits. Beat that cannon-wielding nuisance and then target the Blightkristall Core — shooting it will finish off the core and clear the area.
Wrap-Up and Loot
After destroying the core and exiting the Shadow Realm, don’t forget to nab the Precious Chest that appears — that’s the last collectible that completes the quest. You should now have the usual goodies: blueprints, chests, and the satisfying feeling of lasers well-routed.
Tips, Tricks, and Mildly Obvious Advice
– If the beam isn’t hitting where you want, step back and rebuild or reposition your Refraction Mechanisms — angles are everything. – Keep your ammo topped up before major fights in the Shadow Realm. – Explore small corners; there are multiple Exquisite Chests tucked around lifts and platforms. – If you ever feel stuck, look for another place to stand and test the beam angles from a different perspective — sometimes a three-step shimmy makes all the difference.
Final Thoughts
Into the Tower’s Shadow mixes a modest brain-teaser with some combat and exploration. It’s not the most diabolical puzzle in Teyvat, but it’s clever enough to make you feel like an engineer-magician. Aim wisely, move quickly, and collect everything — the loot’s worth it, and the lasers are fun to boss around.
