Wild Zone 16 is basically the garden party of Pokemon Legends: Z-A — the kind of place where serious fighters, flashy water types, and a grumpy amphibian all show up for tea. This guide tells you who spawns there, when they like to make an appearance, and sneaky tips to actually catch them without crying into your Poké Balls.
How to Unlock Wild Zone 16
You unlock this area after hitting Rank C during Main Mission 24. So yes, you actually have to do stuff in the story before you can go safari-ing.
Quick Overview: Who’s Here
Wild Zone 16 contains seven regular Pokemon spawns and three guaranteed Alpha encounters. Standouts include Falinks and Starmie — both get new Mega forms in PLZA — so this zone is worth poking around if you want something special.
Falinks — Time: Day/Night
Falinks gather in the shallow circular pool that wraps the inner garden. There are usually multiple of them, kind of like a marching band that never learned to march. If you want the Mega Falinks, pick up a Falinksite from the Quasartico Mega Shard Exchange for 240 Mega Shards after finishing Main Mission 20.
Flaaffy — Time: Day/Night
Flaaffy like to hide in the thick bushes along the zone’s outer edges. They’re sneaky and blend into the greenery, so press the detection button (ZL) if you’re near to make them pop out like a shy sheep with electricity.
Medicham — Time: Day
During daytime you’ll sometimes spot two Medicham standing in the shallow water next to the northeast fountain. Note: this spot is shared with Florges, so you might need to be patient — or annoyingly persistent — to get the one you want.
Florges — Time: Day
Florges also shows up by the main water fountain during the day. If you arrive and find Medicham instead, fast travel away and then back to the zone to reset the spawns. Rinse and repeat until luck favors you.
Barbaracle — Time: Night
Barbaracle appears near the fountain but only after dark. This spawn is shared with Starmie, so if you’re hunting specifically for Barbaracle, plan a moonlit visit and be ready to reset the area if someone else beat you to the spot.
Starmie — Time: Night
Starmie is a night-only, shallow-water visitor near the hedge maze by the northeast fountain. It’s a rarer spawn, so be prepared to fast travel away and back multiple times to force a respawn. Starmie also received a Mega form in this game, which is why trainers get excited about this little starfish.
Froakie — Time: Day/Night
Froakie perches on the top of the stone plinth smack in the center of the garden maze. It’s skittish and will bolt if it spots you, and if it runs off it won’t come back for five minutes. Quick tip: bring a Quick Ball or approach very carefully so you don’t scare the little froggy away.
Alpha Ampharos — Time: Day/Night
An Alpha Ampharos (level 53) spawns along the outer edges of the zone, usually near where the Flaaffy hang out. It’s a beefy sight to see, so come prepared with strong counters or some ultra-pretty Poké Balls.
Catching Tips & Tricks
Shared spawn points mean patience is a virtue. Use fast travel to reset zones quickly, use your detection button to reveal hidden Pokemon in brush, and carry a selection of Quick Balls and other capture tools. If you want Mega evolutions, make sure to grab the relevant Mega Shard items from the exchange after their mission unlocks.
There you go — Wild Zone 16 in all its leafy, watery, and mildly chaotic glory. Happy hunting, and try not to anger the garden residents.
