What’s Coming to Switch 2?
Good news for strategy nerds and monster collectors: Brigandine: Abyss is headed to Switch 2 sometime in 2026. NIS America and Happinet are teaming up to bring a brand-new entry in the Brigandine series — a fresh world, fresh drama, and all the tactical chaos you could want.
Story and Setting (AKA: Bring Your Banner)
The setup is delightfully dramatic: an empire called Abyssloa once fell thanks to the power of Brigandine, and now something nasty is trying to rise again. You’ll pick a side, lead armies, and uncover secrets across six different story campaigns. Expect shady alliances, ominous ruins, and at least one NPC who looks like they’ve seen too many plot twists.
How the Game Plays
Brigandine: Abyss keeps the series’ signature hex-grid tactical battles, but it also splits each turn into two big phases. First, the Organization phase — where you shuffle troops, manage loot and resources, and do the strategic tetris that keeps generals up at night. Then comes the Attack phase, where your careful planning gets tested on the battlefield.
Modes for Every Mood
Prefer a story-driven romp? Dive into one of six campaigns. Want a classic Brigandine sandbox? Mission Mode lets you play as any of 24 factions, each with its own win condition. Play one faction, chain ten, or lose an afternoon trying to figure out which monster is best at stealing victory.
What You’ll Be Thinking About
It’s not just move-and-hit. You’ll juggle skills, elemental strengths and weaknesses, monster bonds, and long-term unit development. Little details — which monster you pair with which commander, which terrain to seize — can swing an entire war. In short: brain-on, snacks-ready.
Why It’s Worth Watching
If you enjoy deep strategy, a huge replay factor, and a sprinkle of fantasy melodrama, this one looks made for late-night tactical sessions. Expect hundreds of hours if you like min-maxing, and plenty of surprising combos if you like experimenting.
Release Window
Release is planned for 2026 on Switch 2. Keep an eye out for more details, trailers, and the inevitable community theories about which faction is secretly the best. Until then, warm up your strategic brain and prepare to staff up an army of weird monsters.
