Pokémon Pokopia DLC Leak: Coralina Basin Launches August 5

Pokémon Pokopia DLC Leak: Coralina Basin Drops August 5

The surprise that wasn’t so surprising

Short version: Coralina Basin — the first chunk of Pokémon Pokopia’s Expansion Pass — appears to be landing on August 5 for Nintendo Switch 2. There was no flashy Direct or pomp and circumstance; instead a promo video briefly popped up on YouTube, showed the date, and was then set to private. The internet, of course, took a screenshot and ran faster than a Quick Attack.

How the date leaked out

Someone uploaded a promotional clip that listed the release date, and it didn’t take long for players to spot it. The video got hidden soon after, but not before the online community archived the info. It lines up with what we already knew: the Expansion Pass was revealed back in June, it’s live in the eShop, and August was always the general target window — this just gives us the exact day.

What Coralina Basin brings (aka: ocean vibes)

Think underwater town meets beach holiday for your Pokémon. The DLC promises a whole submerged settlement to explore, new water-based Pokémon to populate your island, plenty of marine-themed furniture to redecorate, and fresh outfits to dress up your Ditto (yes, Ditto gets wardrobe upgrades).

Also good news for everyone: Update 2.0 will arrive the same month and adds the Dive move, which unlocks underwater exploration for all players. In other words, you won’t need to buy the DLC to take your first plunge — the update gives you the key to the deep.

The plan through 2027

This Coralina drop is just the opener. The Expansion Pass is a three-part rollout running into 2027. Part 2 is slated to arrive by the end of the year (details still wrapped in mystery, though hints suggest more customization options), and the third part will bring another full town to explore.

Buying the full pass comes with bonus goodies: building-block instructions, Ditto-patterned wallpaper, and 30 rare Pokémetal ingots — plus a code to claim those extras through August 31, 2027.

Should you dive in day one?

If you’re the impatient, splash-first-ask-questions-later type, Coralina Basin sounds built for instant joy. If you’re a completionist waiting for the whole trilogy, you might sit this first swim out. Either way, if you like island-crafting tips, a handful of smart tricks can stretch your progress farther than you’d expect in a week.

We’ve got our swim trunks at the ready. Whether you cannonball into the new underwater village on launch day or pace yourself until the full pass is out, August looks like it’s bringing some wet, wonderful chaos to Pokémon Pokopia.
