Japan finally gets a date (and a physical copy!)
After a surprise slip in November 2025, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP for the Switch 2 has resurfaced with an actual launch date—at least in Japan. Players there can chop their way through the undead starting March 26, 2026, and yes, you can buy a boxed version if you like your games in shrink wrap and nostalgia.
The paid upgrade — cheap-ish and optional
If you already own the game on Switch, Japan will get an “Upgrade Pack” for 1,100 yen (roughly $7). It’s not free, but it’s also not going to break the bank — more like a coffee-or-upgrade decision. This pack brings the Switch 2 improvements without forcing you to repurchase the whole game.
What actually improves? Graphics, speed, and some shiny extras
According to the publisher, the Switch 2 Edition adds visual boosts that they said weren’t doable on the original Switch hardware. Frame rates have been given a pep talk too: the game reportedly runs at a stable 60fps whether you’re handhelding on the couch or docked to your TV. In short: prettier and smoother zombie-slaying.
New modes and funky control options
The Switch 2 build also includes some new toys. There’s an arcade-style mode that pits you against waves of zombies while you blast away with Juliet’s Chainsaw Blaster and a turret — think more frantic, less story, maximum chaos. On top of that, Joy-Con 2 mouse support is being added for a different control feel: if you’ve always wanted your Joy-Cons to pretend they’re a mouse, now’s your chance.
When will the rest of the world get it?
Outside of Japan, the upgrade is slated for “early 2026” on Switch 2. No exact date yet, so international fans will have to keep their machetes sheathed for now. When regional release windows are announced, expect updates — and probably a few more screams from the undead.
Bottom line
If you’re in Japan and you like your action with extra polish, March 26 looks promising. If you live elsewhere, hang tight: the upgrade is coming, just not with a precise timetable yet. Either way, more 60fps zombie mayhem sounds like a win to me.
