Quick intro
So you swam up to a scorch zone and your PDA politely (or rudely) told you to back off — classic Subnautica move. There’s an adaptation that lets you brave those toasty waters. Here’s a friendly, no-nonsense walk-through to unlock Heat Tolerance so you can go where the steam (and the fun) is.
What you need before you leave
Make sure you’ve already learned the plans for the Sonic Resonator and have one equipped. It’s the key to clearing the way, and you don’t want to be halfway there and realize you left it on the bedroll.
Where to head
From your starter base use the compass and head roughly between 240 and 255 degrees. You’ll pass some scenery until you spot a giant coral formation with a small opening near the base of a little structure — that’s your entrance.
Getting inside
The entrance is clogged with those annoying root things. Use the Sonic Resonator to blast them away and squeeze through. Once inside you’ll reach the Arachnid Dome area, where a massive, closed plant with purple roots is guarding the good stuff.
How to unlock the Heat Tolerance adaptation
The plant’s roots are infected or glowing — annoying, but fixable. Follow each purple root and shoot the glowing flowers on them; there are four in total. After those are cleared, find and shoot three flowers on the Angelic Comb growing on the roots. When the growths die back, reach in like you did for other biomods and grab the Heat Tolerance adaptation.
Tips and safety notes
Bring extra oxygen and inventory space, and save before you poke mysterious plants. The resonator is essential—don’t leave home without it. Watch for territorial critters and maneuver slowly if you want to keep your limbs intact and your sanity intact-ish.
Wrap-up
Unlocking Heat Tolerance is mostly about the right tool, the right direction, and a little aim. Do that, and you’ll be toasty in the best way: exploring new zones without spontaneously combusting. Go forth, explorer — the warm end of the map awaits.
