New project: Farnia Village hits Kickstarter
Shinichi Manabe — the director behind Rune Factory 4 — is cooking up a fresh farming sim called Farnia Village with writer Takanori Tsuji, and they’ve just launched a Kickstarter to get it off the ground. The team is targeting a Steam release first, and the build is being tuned to run smoothly on hardware similar to the Nintendo Switch — so most modern laptops should be able to handle it without breaking a sweat.
Console hopes (fingers crossed)
While the initial focus is PC, Manabe has said the studio would love to bring the game to home consoles down the line if circumstances allow. No firm promises — just optimistic wishful thinking and careful optimization work in the background.
What you’ll actually do in the game
Think classic farming-sim vibes: plant and harvest crops, raise animals, forge quirky friendships with villagers, and keep living in the world long after the main story ends. In other words, it’s the kind of game that encourages endless “one more season” play sessions and questionable time-management choices.
When to expect it
Don’t hold your breath — the timeline is a bit roomy. Pledge rewards list the earliest delivery around September 2027, with some tiers pushing into September 2028. So expect a wait, and understand that any console versions would likely arrive even later.
Kickstarter progress and extras
The campaign is aiming for ¥5,000,000 (roughly £24,845) and still has about a month left to reach that goal. Planned stretch goals include new characters, additional dungeons and crops, plus more music tracks — basically the usual buffet of Kickstarter bonus goodies. If cozy farming chaos is your thing, consider backing the project when you get a spare minute.
