What’s up?
Square Enix just dropped a neat update about its upcoming HD-2D RPG, The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales — yes, the one headed to Switch 2 this June. They watched folks play the demo, read the feedback, and decided to tinker under the hood before launch. Heroic move.
What they’re changing
The studio says it’s making several tweaks based on the debut demo’s survey responses. Nothing world-ending, just quality-of-life and tuning stuff so the game feels better when you actually play it. Highlights include:
– Elliot will move faster. If you were tired of watching grass grow between steps, your patience has paid off.
– New difficulty levels are on the way, so both button-masher newbies and crunchy strategy fans can find a pace that fits.
– Magicite management will get more convenient. Less fumbling, more blasting.
– The weapon shortcut menu behavior is being adjusted so swapping gear doesn’t make you want to throw your controller.
About the Debut Demo
If you haven’t tried the demo yet, it’s available from the Switch 2 eShop. The sample is meant to give a taste of the game’s exploration and combat: expect snappy skirmishes, shadowy caves, hidden nooks and the odd cheeky secret.
Find a weak-looking wall? Plant a bomb and you might unearth a tiny dungeon full of goodies. That’s the sort of cheeky puzzle-design this demo loves to hide in the scenery.
There are optional mini-challenges called Shrines of Life that test your platforming and fight chops. Beat them and you can score magicite, cash, or just bragging rights — your call.
Follow the quest markers and you’ll eventually stumble into a swamp that leads down into multi-level ruins. It’s perilous, layered, and ripe for improvisation — so bring your best strategies.
Hands-on and thoughts
We went hands-on with the game last August and had some impressions from that session. This demo-driven tuning sounds like the kind of polish that can turn a good time into a great one, so we’re curious to see how these changes land in the final release.
