When Storm Clouds Roll In
Rain and lightning in Hyrule are annoying and dangerous — they make climbing slippery and, worse, attract lightning like a neon sign. If you see dark clouds gathering, your first thought should be: dont be the tallest point in the area.
Take Shelter or Build a Fire
If possible, duck under a ledge, into a cave, or behind any overhang and wait the storm out. If youre stuck on a flat stretch with nothing above you, quickly build a small campfire and huddle near it until the thunder moves on. Its boring, but it keeps you alive.
Drop the Metal — Quickly
When lightnings nearby, unequip all metal weapons, shields, and metal bows. Those items will start to crackle right before a strike, giving you a few seconds to stow them. Armor pieces generally dont count as conductors, so you can leave most clothing on — just get the swords and shields out of your hands.
Rubber Armor and the Thunder Helmet: Your Electric Insurance
If you want to laugh in the face of storms, wear the full rubber set. Equip all three rubber pieces and upgrade them a couple times with the Great Fairies and youll be immune to electricity — carry whatever metal gear you like. The Thunder Helmet works the same way and is obtainable later in the game after dealing with Vah Naboris.
Quick Tips and Common Sense
Avoid standing on plateaus, tall rocks, or metal objects during a thunderstorm. If you hear that eerie crackle, act fast: unequip metal, find cover, or slap on your rubber gear. With a little prep and a few goofy outfits, you can outrun the thunder and keep exploring without becoming a human lightning rod.
