Viego Champion Expansion Spoilers and Information

On July 14, in just two weeks since the launch of the Rise of the Underworlds, we will be getting a new standalone mini-expansion featuring ~30 cards centered around new champions Viego and Akshan, as well as the cross-game ‘The Sentinels of Light’ event!

On this page, you’ll find all the essential info about this upcoming release and all the most recent spoilers. The reveals are happening every day around 9 AM PST, so come back daily to check out new updates.

‘The Sentinels of Light’ event

This release will be a part of the huge cross-game story event that spans across Legends of Runeterra, League of Legends, Teamfight Tactics, and Valorant. This event will bring forth and develop a narrative about the ‘Ruination’ spreading through the world of Runeterra – a corruption of Black Mist caused by ‘The Ruined King’ Viego.

Viego is devastated by the death of his wife Isolde and wants to unleash the suffering onto the rest of the world. Champions and heroes of Runeterra, lead by Lucian and Senna, are forming a coalition to fight against Viego, called ‘The Sentinels of Light’.

It has been confirmed that ‘The Sentinels of Light’ event in Legends of Runeterra will include a limited-time Event Pass, as well as new champion skins. The skins that have been teased so far: Ruined Shyvana, Ruined Karma, Ruined Draven, Sentinel Riven, Sentinel Irelia, Sentinel Diana, Unbound Thresh.

Champions

Once ruler of a long-lost kingdom, Viego perished over a thousand years ago when his attempt to bring his wife back from the dead triggered the magical catastrophe known as the Ruination. Transformed into a powerful, unliving wraith tortured by an obsessive longing for his centuries-dead queen, Viego now stands as the Ruined King, controlling the deadly Harrowings as he scours Runeterra for anything that might one day restore her, and destroying all in his path as the Black Mist pours endlessly from his cruel, broken heart.

Raising an eyebrow in the face of danger, Akshan fights evil with dashing charisma, righteous vengeance, and a conspicuous lack of shirts. He is highly skilled in the art of stealth combat, able to evade the eyes of his enemies and reappear when they least expect him. With a keen sense of justice and a legendary death-reversing weapon, he rights the wrongs of Runeterra’s many scoundrels while living by his own moral code: “Don’t be an ass.”
